About IAEM

The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) is an international organization dedicated to promoting the goals of saving lives and protecting property prior to and during emergencies and disasters. IAEM is a non-profit, educational organization established in 1952, with more than 3,000 current members.

Our Vision: IAEM shall be recognized as a premier international organization of emergency management professionals.

Our Mission: The mission of IAEM is to serve its members by providing information, networking and professional opportunities, and to advance the emergency management profession.

Members are local, state and federal government emergency management/homeland security professionals; private industry/security executives; military; non-profit, healthcare; volunteer disaster planners; and others. IAEM provides access to the largest network of emergency management experts who can provide advice and assistance; the Certified Emergency Manager program; the IAEM Scholarship Program for emergency management students; a comprehensive monthly newsletter; and more. Our members frequently play a key role in selecting, purchasing and using emergency equipment, supplies, products and services.

Membership is open to anyone practicing or interested in the field. Of interest to exhibitors is Affiliate Membership offered to firms and individuals which provide a service and/or product needed in the comprehensive field of emergency management. Affiliate Members receive a substantial exhibit space discount, special space in the IAEM Membership Directory, mailing labels for follow-up marketing efforts, and more.

Certified Emergency Manager Program
IAEM created the Certified Emergency Manager Program to raise and maintain professional standards. It is an internationally recognized program that certifies achievements within the emergency management profession. CEM certification is a peer review process administered through the International Association of Emergency Managers. You do not have to be an IAEM member to be certified, although IAEM membership does offer you a number of benefits that can assist you through the certification process. Certification is maintained in five-year cycles. The CEM Program is served by a CEM Commission that is composed of emergency management professionals, including representatives from allied fields, education, the military and private industry. Development of the CEM Program was supported by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the National Emergency Management Association (NEMA), and a host of allied organizations. Learn more about the CEM Program.

IAEM Scholarship Program
The International Association of Emergency Managers established the IAEM Scholarship Program to further the education of students studying the field of emergency management. The mission of the program is to assist the profession by developing students with the intellect and technical skills to advance and enhance emergency management. Learn more about the IAEM Scholarship Program.

Support IAEM Scholarship Auction With Donated Items or Services IAEM Headquarters is seeking donations of items and services to be auctioned at the IAEM 2008 Annual Conference & EMEX Exhibit in Kansas City (Overland Park), Kansas, to benefit the IAEM Scholarship Program. Please approach your local retailers for contributions, and report all donations of items (with their value) to Dawn Shiley-Danziesen, IAEM Communications & Marketing Director, IAEM Headquarters, 703-538-1795 or shiley@iaem.com. If you are not attending the conference and plan to mail your auction item to IAEM Headquarters, please ensure that it reaches Dawn no later than Sept. 15, 2008

The IAEM Scholarship Auctions have been exceptionally successful during past IAEM Annual Conferences, raising significant funds for the IAEM Scholarship Program. In 2007, IAEM raised more than $24,000 in scholarships. Please help us make this years event an outstanding success as well and do your part to help the IAEM Scholarship Program by contributing an auction item on behalf of scholarships for emergency management students.

  • Past Scholarship Auction Hits. Some donated items that have been real hits in the past are: cigars, artwork (especially emergency management or fire-related), electronics (iPods, telephones, CD players), limited edition collectibles related to emergency management, jewelry, and collectible sports memorabilia.

  • Want to Be a Donor, But Don't Have Time to Find an Item? Let Us Shop for You. Donors are also welcome to send cash donations (to Dawn Shiley-Danziesens attention) earmarked for the auction. IAEM staff will shop for an appropriate item (or items) for the auction with the cash. The member will be listed on the scholarship auction item donor list.

  • Tax-Deductible Donations Always Welcome. Your tax deductible contributions to the IAEM Scholarship Program are welcome at any time.

With the great success of EMEX 2009 in Orlando, Florida, we are expecting even greater interest from even more companies at EMEX 2010 in San Antonio, Texas. As bookings are made and contracts received, EMEX will load exhibitor information into the EMEX 2010 Web site to maintain a year-round presence on the Virtual Expo - offering additional exposure and a direct link to your Web site.
